We were able to go to San Diego last week. We went to SeaWorld, San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park. We had a lot of fun! Isaac loved the fish, giraffes, ducks, turtles, owls and other animals. Here are a few pictures from our trip:

He really liked the giraffes. He now jumps when we talk
about giraffes, I think because they are so tall.

At the Wild Animal Park we were able to feed the ducks.
Isaac couldn't have been happier.

The Wild Animal Park also had these bronze statues of
gorillas. He spend a good half hour just playing by them
and with the bark around them.

He fell asleep at the zoo and woke up at the beach. May have
been a little confusing for him.

I know it's now spring, but I still would like pictures of Christmas on our blog...so take a moment and reminisce with me:

We had a couple of huge snow storms in Walla Walla.
This is Chad and Isaac playing in our backyard, Isaac had a lot of fun.

to get this picture--he didn't stay on his lap long.

Isaac got an Elmo Live for Christmas, he loved it!

We had second thoughts about giving Isaac Elmo. It got really annoying
after about five minutes. But Isaac loves it...so it's worth it, right? Right?

Thanksgiving Pictures to Come

We spent Thanksgiving with Chad's family in the Tri Cities, which was great. My mom and stepdad were able to come from Seattle too and they stayed for a few days! I forgot our camera (surprisingly...I know) so I had our sister-in-law take a few pictures with her camera. When I get the pictures, I'll post them.

Haircut

Isaac got his very first hair cut a couple of weeks ago. If you hadn't really looked at his hair before the haircut, you might not even notice a difference ...since his hair is so light and fine. But, he had the baby mullet. So, I took off the party in the back, it only took about an hour. :) It made him look instantly older. Kind of sad.

Visit from Isaac's Papa and Nana

Isaac's "Papa and Nana" (Katy's dad and stepmom) came to visit a couple of weeks ago! We had a lot of fun. We basically just hung out (which is the best) but some of the highlights included: going on a drive to Pomeroy, WA and stopping at antique shops along the way, going for a walk, and the highlight for Isaac was going to the pet store and looking at the fish, turtles, hamsters, mice and a kitten. Papa and Nana also showed him the Christmas lights and fans at the store, which Isaac gets super excited about.
We're glad they drove so far to visit us!

Halloween!

Isaac's second Halloween was a lot of fun. Although he didn't fully grasp what Halloween was all about, he had a good time seeing others' costumes and eating candy. It's official--he now knows what "candy" is. And now begins a lifetime of trying to resist it. :)

In his bumblebee costume. Our nickname for Isaac is "bumblebee" so we thought this was appropriate. At first he wasn't very fond of it.

Still hates it. But it eventually grew on him.

Walla Walla has a trick-or-treat afternoon downtown. The kids just walk down main street and all of the businesses downtown give them candy, it was a lot of fun. And a boatload of kids.

Even though he got used to the costume, he still didn't like the hood very much. He was a good sport though.

I'll say something all parents seem to say...but it's true...I can't believe how big he's getting.

He got tired of walking downtown, so he took a breather in the stroller.

We went to our ward's trunk-or-treat (didn't take any pictures) and then went trick-or-treating to a couple of friends' houses. By this point Isaac was diggin' the costume.

He seemed to like going to people's houses to get candy. Who wouldn't?

Pumpkin Patch Fun

This past week Chad was out-of-town for a couple of days. So, Isaac and I went to Chad's mom's house for a visit since she wasn't working. We had a great time!
We went to a pumpkin patch with Kathie (Chad's mom), Hilary (our sister-in-law), her two kids, Carter and Kendal and then another niece, Morgan. It was a fun day and we were totally pooped afterwards...except for the kids, of course.

You'll notice that in most of the pictures, actually ALL of the pictures, Isaac is holding on to his sippy cup. I tried to take it away, but he insisted on holding on to it. Silly boy.

Isaac LOVED the goats. He never touched one, but he acted like he wanted to by walking towards them excitedly but then backing up when he got really close. It took 5 times to finally leave the animal area. He really loved it.

We had such a fun day. We also ate lunch at the pumpkin patch (not literally in the patch, they had a little restaurant inside), got some treats, ate some samples and had ice cream. I should say Isaac and I mooched off of everyone else's ice cream. That's how we roll.

Isaac's uncle Blake gave him a fox (stuffed animal) for his birthday and Isaac adores it. It's his animal that he sleeps with. He loves to cuddle with it, hug it and give it kisses. I leave it in his crib so it is just for sleeping (to help with him going to bed) but sometimes he tries to reach through the crib to get it. Almost every day he just wants to get in his crib, even when he's not tired, to just hug the fox. Sometimes I let him take it out of bed with him and he loves walking around with it.

So a few weeks ago while I was getting ready Isaac came into the bathroom. He opened some drawers and was just hanging out with me. He opened the toilet lid while I was putting on makeup and I told him it was "icky." I thought that was the end of it...
The next few days the toilet seemed clogged. We tried the ol' plunger method, but it still didn't drain right. Chad then rented a snake to see if that would unclog it and that still didn't do the trick. During the whole time of trying to unclog it in the back of my mind I kept thinking, "I wonder if when he opened the toilet lid he dropped something in there."
Well, Chad ended up taking off the toilet, taking it to the back lawn and looking at it there.
Guess what he found?

A travel-sized deodorant...the little devil.

Wowsers, It's Been a While!

So, it's been a crazy summer. Hence the lack of posting. But, here's a recap: in backwards order... just to keep you on your toes.

For Labor Day weekend my dad, his wife, Michelle and my grandma came for a visit. It was so nice! I loved having them here and hated to see them leave. They drove all the way from Vernal, Utah (about 16 hours) and stayed for a day and a half. Talk about dedicated grandparents and parents.

While they were here, we got Isaac to say "papa" for grandpa. It was great. My dad quickly became Isaac's outside pal. They would sit on the front lawn and watch the cars. Before long Isaac would lift up his arms to my dad (asking to be picked up) and want to go outside. It was super cute.

We also went to the Tri Cities on Monday (Labor Day) to be with Chad's family. We went to the park and then ate food. And forgot our camera to document it. Sorry Kreutz/Scott fam!

Seattle Trip and Atlanta

We found out while I was in Utah that my mom has breast cancer, which really sucks. She had a double mastectomy the end of June (actually on her birthday... crappy) and then started chemo August 22. I wanted to spend time with her before she started chemo, so Isaac and I went to Seattle for a few days. One of the things we did while we were there, besides going to Ikea, World Market and Target several times, was go to the zoo.
Isaac really enjoyed the butterflies, the tiger and the giraffes. It was a nice day!

My mom and Isaac. I haven't seen my mom since she started losing her hair and shaved her head, but I'm realistically certain she still looks as hot as ever. :)

While I was in Seattle Chad went to Atlanta for business. It ended up that his trip was extended so Isaac and I flew to Atlanta for three days to be with Chad. It was a lot of fun. Once we got to Atlanta, that is. Anyone who's ever flown with a one-year-old for five hours knows what I'm talking about. :) He actually was really good considering his age and how long the flight was.
While in Atlanta, we went to the Georgia Aquarium, the Olympic park and fountain, CNN headquarters, drove around the temple (where my grandparents served their mission) saw the Martin Luther King Jr. site (where he is buried, exhibits, etc) and of course some shopping. It was a nice little family vacation!

Apparently they say it's the largest in the world. Chad and I haven't been to all of the aquariums in the world, but we believe 'em. Isaac loved the large tanks with big fish and the jelly fish. Chad loved the touch tank and I was fond of the crap loads of people shoved in small spaces. Thanks, Dad I get that one from you. :)

Utah Trip

My dad and his wife Michelle drove up from Utah for Isaac's birthday and Isaac and I rode back down with them to stay for a couple of weeks. It was a lot of fun. I saw some of my high school friends, two of my best friends (Kalli and Diane) both had baby boys within months of Isaac. It was great getting together and seeing their sons.

My grandma had her 80th birthday party (which I forgot to take pictures of) and I was able to go to St. George with her, some aunts and cousins (which I also didn't take pictures of) without Isaac. It was so much fun I nearly lost control of myself several times.

So, Isaac turned 1 on May 30th. We had a birthday party for him May 31st with a lot of family and friends. It was great! Isaac had been sick for the week before, so he wasn't his normal happy self; he cried when we tried to get him to eat cake, he cried at the pinata and cried whenever people cheered. Oh well, it was still fun!

New Trick and New Nighttime Do

The other day while Isaac was in his crib, he was making his normal happy noises but then started really giggling and making different happy noises. So, I thought something must be up. I went into his room, and to my surprise, he was doing this:

He was so proud of himself. Now that's his new trick, he does it all of the time. It's insane how fast he's growing!

Isaac's head had been dry lately, so at bedtime I usually put lotion on it. It gets all greasy, but in the morning it looks normal. Anyway, he doesn't have much hair, but last night I made a mo hawk out of it...if you can see it. :)

Easter Goodness

Isaac's Grandma and Grandpa Stevens sent him an Easter package, this bunny was one of the things in the package.

It's a Valentine's Day Miracle!

So, I've been a major slacker in the blogging department. Although I stink at blogging, I do have other things going for me. For instance, I have somehow managed to successfully take care of and keep Isaac alive for the last 8 months. I've been able to pretty much do my church calling, I'm still good at taking daily showers and I've managed to stay away from the dreaded "mom" attire that consists of oversized Disney shirts, spandex sturup pants and the "claw" bangs. So, although I am not a functioning blogger, I am however, a functioning adult.
Well, I'll try to play catch up. Here are some pictures from over the holidays:

So, there you have it, an update blog. I forgot to mention that not only did we forget our camera for Chad's family's Thanksgiving shindig, but we conveniently forgot our camera for their Christmas party too (which Chad and I were in charge of planning this year). I promise that we (or I) don't have anything against Chad's family. And it's not even that they are ugly people and we don't want them in our pictures, they're all beautiful people (needless to say, I'm the ugly one in the bunch). We just simply forgot our camera. Bummer.

Because Chad is extremely busy and I'm only partially busy, I have now been promoted to being the manager of Isaac's blog. My goal is to update it often, hopefully it actually happens.
I know the current thing for most people is to be blogging maniacs, blogging everyday with basically journal entries of everything that happened that day from what time baby got up to what they ate for mid morning snack (including the proportions they ate), well that's not me. Like most everything else, I tend to resist what's currently popular. So, you will find mostly pictures with captions on this blog. Hopefully that satisfies you. I suppose from time to time I might enlighten you with some fun thing that Isaac did, but it won't be every day and it won't be in great detail.
There, now that your expectations have been set...I hope you enjoy, Isaac is a happy and handsome baby. :)

About the Name: Isaac David Kreutz

Isaac: according to BabyNames.com, Isaac is Hebrew in origin and means "he will laugh." However, we didn't know any of that when we chose his name ... we just liked it.

David: the name of Chad's stepfather (David Lamar Scott) who passed away in 2003.

Kreutz: German. Orginally spelled Kreuz which means "cross." The "t" was added in a clerical error on Ellis Island when Chad's great-grandfather arrived as an immigrant.
